What to expect at your DOT Physical Exam

A Department of Transportation physical exam is required for any driver who operates a commercial motor vehicle (CMV). The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requires that the CMV drivers are physically and mentally fit. This is done in order to ensure the safety of all drivers who share the road.

During your visit the medical examiner will review your medical history and medications.

There are 4 major components to the DOT exam which include:

  • Vision exam
  • Hearing exam
  • Urine testing (not drug testing)
